Graphic By D

I am absolutely in love with this Light Stones IV print from Graphic By D. It brings the much needed change in to our living area and fits the space perfectly. Go check out the other prints on Dorothee's website, there are heaps of different styles and colours available. I am planning a few more small changes here and there, so stay tuned!

I am off to Life in Style this weekend. Looking forward to seeing some new-to-me vendors and products, but most of all getting tons of inspiration on the way. Have a great weekend everyone!

My Top 3 Books in 2014

One word: obsessed. For someone who barely has time to get past the first page of a magazine, let alone a whole book, managing to devour this book in just a couple of days was nothing short of a miracle. I absolutely love Erin's blog and she stays true to her style in this masterpiece as well. Not only is her book full of great advice for anyone interested in interior design and decorating, she adds a very personal touch, something you don't often find in books of this genre.

Every page of this book is swoon-worthy. Greg's style is luxurious and polished, but he offers invaluable expertise advice and inside to the sometimes seemingly glamorous world of interior design. This is a great coffee table book!

This is such a beautiful book and full of inspiring tips for successful entertaining at home. I love how achievable and welcoming Camille's style is. There are plenty of recipes, styling tips and other useful advice. Great gift even to bring along to a host or get inspiration for your own party. I love it!

Well, Valentine's Day is just around the corner and whether you will celebrate it or not, it's pretty impossible not to get drawn into all the lovely things out there at this time of the year. I've collected a few pieces here that I think are just so cute especially for this special day.

In Finland we celebrate Friendship Day (see my previous posts here and here), so for me this day has always been more about being grateful for my friends who are now gathered pretty much all around the world. So here's to you, thank you for being a friend!

5 x Coffee Tables

1. DLM Table by HAY 2. Artek's Trienna Coffee Table 3. Block Table by Normann Copenhagen 4. Tablo Tray Table by Design House Stockholm 5. Tablo by Normann Copenhagen

There are a few pieces of furniture we still need in our home. Firstly, I haven't been able to find bedside tables I really like (they are often too bulky in my opinion), secondly I would like to get a new dining table and chairs to replace our old ones and thirdly, we desperately need a coffee table. I've found most of the coffee tables way too big for our living room area, so we've been using these IKEA stools as a temporary solution. I really don't want a coffee table that sits in between the sofa and the TV, but rather a small side table that doesn't take too much space.

I really can't pick a favourite amongst the Scandinavian design pieces I've gathered above. They all have pros and cons, but I could easily imagine all of them in our living room. As you can see, I've already decided on the colour, but I'm indecisive of the style. For purely practical reasons, I could go with the Block Table from Normann Copenhagen (the bottom layer would be ideal for magazines, for example) or the Tablo Tray Table from Design House Stockholm (the tray is separate so it doesn't take much space), but the Artek table is quite a design piece on its own and I quite like the two other tables shown above as well. Decisions decision! I promise to show you the outcome once I've made up my mind.

Which one is your favourite? Or is there another coffee table you like?

SS 2014 Favourites from Scandinavia

All photos by the product suppliers

1. Ikono Lamp in Mint is by Normann Copenhagen 2. Gorgeous marble tray by Danish brand HAY 3. I am absolutely obsessed with anything from Kähler at the moment, this pink storage jar is available in March. 4. & 5. Copper candle stick and vase are both from the Danish House Doctor, another one of my favourites! 6. Copper eggs from Madam Stoltz would be stunning for Easter.

For the past few weeks I have been browsing and drooling over the new SS 2014 collections by various Scandinavian design companies. I can't pick my favourites so here are a few ideas of what's coming up in the Northern hemisphere spring and summer. There are still lots of pastels as well as copper/brass accents and of course marble which was a big hit already last year.

Pastels would look lovely in a spring home in the Northern hemisphere and well, for us heading towards autumn those brass accents wouldn't look out of place at all, especially if combined with something like the Pantone colour of the year

I'm still waiting to see what else is coming up so I'll have to make another post in a few weeks time. In the mean while, I'll be adding lots more beauties on my wishlist for the coming season.

Getting Organised Part 2

I can't think of a better motivator than a clean work space. I thought I'd show you a glimpse of my own white work space that currently carries some silver accents. I tend to use small cardboard boxes (available at most home ware stores and news agencies) for storing little items at my desk; ribbons, washi tape, stamps, etc. They are inexpensive and easy to change when you get bored of them (try covering them with cute wrapping paper or giving them a washi tape make over). I also find having a simple porcelain tray a gem for keeping things like notebooks and pens or other small accessories you might need handy.

Whilst I was at it, I also finally organised the book shelves in our living room. As much as I love books, they can be a bit of an eye-sore and I've been wanting to tidy up the shelves for a while now. I went through some empty storage boxes we had at the attic and gave them a cleaner look with some white wrapping paper. I'm really happy with the outcome and the books are still there, just all neatly tucked away.

Pantone Colour of the Year 2014

I'm a big fan of Pantone colours and always looking forward to their "colour of the year" announcement. This year's colour, the "Radiant Orchid",  is such an easy colour for me to love. I could definitely use this colour in accessories like hangbags and jewellery as well as at home as an accent colour. I was half expecting indigo to take the top spot this year, so I'm even happier it turned out to be this colour instead (I'm not a big fan of blue for whatever reason). I love the idea of paring Radiant Orchid with pink and lavender and liven up grey and beige which I have a lot of at home.

What do you think? Are you in love with Radiant Orchid?

Girly Home Office Inspiration for the New Year

1. One Step Up Bookcase by Normann Copenhagen (see my bookcase here) 2. Block Table in coral by Normann Copenhagen (perfect little side table for any room, really!) 3. Grasshopper Floor Lamp in white from finnishdesignshop.com 4. Rita rug in mint from Brita Sweden (this I must have!) 5. 'Craftiness is Happiness' print from Typo - how true is that? 6. Storage boxes from House Doctor 7. Storage box from Kikki.K 8. To Do List Pad from Kikki.K 9. Wire Basket from Ferm Living 10. No office space is complete without some tea supplies - Winter in Lov Tea 11. A pretty tea pot from T2

Our home office is in dire need of some colour so I thought I'd put together a dream collection of inspiring items to liven up that space. I already have the Normann Copenhagen bookcase which works as both a storage space, but also a bit of a mood board for my work. I've been wanting one of those Normann Copenhagen block tables for a while now and this new coral colour is probably my favourite so far! It would be perfect for either as a side table in our home office or as a coffee table in the living room.

The Grasshopper lamp is definitely a bit of a classic and comes in a variety of colours; I love the sleek white look for this one though. And how gorgeous is that Brita Sweden rug? I've been wanting one for ages and their new collection is just so pretty! I picked Rita as my favourite, but Bobbi (in turquoise) comes as a close second. I could also easily imagine this print on our office wall - how true this is! I'm not sure my husband agrees with the slogan, but I digress.

As for the storage, I love the colourful House Doctor boxes, but also the classic white Kikki K. ones. As a side note, I also love having a few of those woven pine baskets from my own online store stacked in the bookcase; they are a perfect size for small craft items like stamps or fabric scraps. That Ferm Living basket could work as a paper bin, but also as a holder for my growing collection of wrapping papers.

Kikki K.'s notepads are just too adorable to resist! I'm expecting a busy new year (in one way or another) and I have a feeling I'll be needing a few of these To Do notepads to keep me on track.

No office space (in my mind) is complete without some supply of tea. I'm yet to taste Lov Organic teas, but I am totally smitten by the packaging. I can never resist gorgeous tins of tea! Sorbet pink tea pot from my favourite tea shop T2 is a must have. I think I'll have to add that on my shopping list straight away.

What do you think? Would this space inspire your work in the new year?
